Johnny Wraith Stories

Weariness has long since passed but still I find no sleep,
And the morning seems to far away for longing.
But the night is warm and friendly so I welcome its embrace,
Since I doubt the whereabouts of my belonging.

Now I feel the world has slipped away somewhere beyond my grasp,
So I'm pondering the truth of its existence.
But I'm sure it's out there somewhere spinning sadly day by day,
And most likely hasn't noticed my resistance.

Though I know I should remain here in the outskirts of creation,
I imagine I'll grow tired and soon return.
For while the world may doubt I've offered anything worthwhile,
It cannot dispute the lack of my concern.
